I wrote this for my online writing assignment. She had me take out most of the good parts.
I'm sorry that my project didn’t get done, Ms. Krensky. But it all started last Friday at that weird military base. You know, the one at Cheyenne Mountain?
I’ve always wondered what was in there that could be so important. Their security is insane! So I’ve spent a lot of my free time thinking up ways that could get me inside. I’ve even done some scouting of the area, which is how I found it. There’s a manhole out in the woods. I’m not sure what it’s there for, but it leads right down into the base. It took me a while to get up the courage to go down it, but on Friday, I did.
That ladder seemed to go on forever. I must’ve gone more than 100 feet down by the time I reached a door. I opened it and stepped out slowly, but the hallway was empty. Closing the door softly behind me, I sighed in relief. My relief was short-lived, however, as some guy stepped around the corner wearing a long white scientist’s jacket. When he saw me, his eyes nearly bugged out of his head! He turned and started calling down the other hallway: “Security! Security breach!”, while looking back at me every once in a while as if to make sure I was really there. Of course, by that time I wasn’t.
I sprinted through the maze of hallways with sirens going off all over the place. One of those huge, steel sliding doors was closing to my left, so I decided to go through it. On the other side was a monstrous upright circle with a blue, watery substance shimmering in it. I didn’t have time to gawk because the door I had just come through was starting to reopen. So I jumped onto the ramp leading to the circle. Some bald guy behind a window of Plexiglas was yelling something through a speakerphone that I didn’t quite catch.
Army guys -- all of whom were holding guns -- swarmed through the open door. Oh yeah, and the guns were all pointed at me. My mind was reeling and all I could do was stand there paralyzed with fear. Looking at the circle behind me, I decided to go through it. At least then they wouldn’t be able to see me. The bald guy kept yelling as I jumped through.
I stepped away from the circle on what I assumed was the other side and looked around me. That’s when I realized that I wasn’t in the base anymore. I was outdoors, and the sky was a peculiar shade of green. Before me was an open field filled with ancient ruins, and little lights were flashing all around them. I nearly jumped out of my skin at the sound of gunshots. Curious, I headed toward the ruins.
As the noise increased, I could tell I was getting closer. Suddenly, one of the lights flew right in front of me, buzzing, and slammed into a wall. The wall fell over. Needless to say, I was rather shaken. I then tripped over a man on the ground who was wearing elaborate armor made up of a skirt, a thick chest plate, and chain mail beneath it all. He was dead. I took something off his wrist and managed to turn it on. Then I squeezed a little, causing an electrical pulse to zap a nearby bush. Officially weirded out, I continued on.
Once I reached the spot of the fighting, I saw a very strange sight. More guys in chain mail and skirts were surrounding four people clad in Army green who were trying to defend a small village among the ruins. These weird people had staffs that shot those buzzing lights, while the soldiers had P-90s.
One of the armored men saw me and fired his staff in my direction. I ducked behind a wall and took aim. As I fired the strange weapon, I watched the pulse hit my attacker. He collapsed to the ground while I shot again, and again, taking out as many of those staff guys as I could.
Something snapped behind me, and I whirled around to find another skirt warrior taking aim with his staff. I zapped him, but he hit the trigger as he fell. The shot went wide, grazing my arm and blasting the wall I was standing by… bad thing. The wall collapsed, pinning me underneath. After that, everything became fuzzy. The gunfire stopped, and the four soldiers I had helped came over to where I was. They were talking to each other in worried voices: “Jack, we have to get her out of there,” “I know, Daniel,” “Colonel, she’s bleeding heavily from a staff blast to the arm,” “Major Carter is right, O’Neill. We must move quickly,” “Teal’c, of course she’s right, she’s always right. Help me move these rocks.”
Then I blacked out. I woke up once in some kind of infirmary. There was a strange orange glow and -was it Colonel O’Neill?- talking. “General, she saved our lives. You really shouldn’t punish her…” It grew dark again.
Waking up, I found that I no longer had an arm injury, and those four were standing by my bed smiling. They said they healed my arm using some kind of “Goa’uld” hand device, whatever that is. Then they thanked me profusely and sent me home. It was Sunday night by then, so, you see, I really didn’t have time to finish my science project.
I'm sure a few of you know what this came from...
